PPF elected a new board member, Keith Braun, at this year’s annual meeting. Keith is the director of on-farm environmental sustainability at Agropur. He works with cheese and whey ingredient buyers, as well as the farmers who ship milk to them.
Keith’s job has three focus areas that align well with Peninsula Pride Farms. He works with farmers to measure on-farm environmental practices with tools like F.A.R.M. ES. The measurements are then reported through platforms from National Milk Producers Federation and Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy. He also works closely with farmers on ideas for how they can reduce CO2 equivalent emissions. Agropur mainly focuses on energy inputs, animal emissions and captured manure emissions.
He wanted to be a member of PPF because he has built relationships with several of the farms that ship to Agropur. Keith is very excited about the measurements the group has implemented. With PPF’s focus on sustainability, this group resounds well with him personally, and fits nicely with his professional role.
Since becoming a board member, he has learned a lot and is very impressed with PPF members. Keith knows the importance of sustainability and is excited to share the group’s story with a broader audience.
